well, we went off to the op-shops today (phillip and weston salvos), and came out with a CD, a top for myself and a top for abby (weston) and a patchwork magazine (from phillip) for the grand total of $5. then i headed off to Curtin to pick up some clothes and shoes off a lady (freecycle), and OMG, these clothes are amazing!!! there were 4 aldi bags worth (and they were stuffed), and all bar one dress fits like a glove. mostly great brands, there are items from sass and bide, witchery, david laurence, and i think the cheapest item is from crossroads. mainly winter, there are dresses, a suit, tops, skirts, cardis, jackets, plus some gorgeous shoes. i'm in heaven!!!
Then the kidlets and i met the other half in civic for lunch, with a quick call in to Lincraft for some fabric (1/2 fabric today, so 4 metres of quilting cotton for $14). all up a lovely day, and if the heat would just go away it would be perfect

quick brag
i planted corn for a bit of fun in our raised garden bed (being a DHA house we haven't really got a garden to plant in and we can't dig up the 'lawn'), and i didn't expect anything off it (it's in a very confined space, and 7 corn plants share the bed with carrots, beetroot and silverbeet). But look what i just picked!!!!! fresh corn for dinner tonight
Abby's new dress
well, after creating this and then promptly forgetting about, i came across my blog in my favourites!!! so i thought i'd tell you about the dress i made yesterday. i found some amazing fabric at an op-shop about a month ago, it's peacock feather design (all greens, reds, blues and purples and cost me the grand total of $2.50), then i found some 70's patterns at another op-shop 2 weeks ago (5 for $2.50), and would you believe it?? one of the patterns suited the fabric to a 't'. so became Abby's dress. it's supposed to be a pinafore, but it's too big so is dress length. very pretty, and very easy to make.
One very proud little miss! |
